Ingredients

Matcha powder: Find matcha powder online on Amazon or from your local Trader Joe’s.

Mint: You will get the best product if you use fresh mint leaves. I would recommend only making this recipe if you have access to fresh mint, actually. The dried stuff just isn’t as good and won’t impart nearly as much flavor into the lemonade.

Lemons: Use ripe lemons for this recipe. Fresh lemon juice will make the lemonade just that much better, but you can use canned or bottled lemon juice in a pinch.

Sugar: White granulated sugar is what this recipe calls for, but you can replace the sugar for a different sweetener, such as Splenda or even maple syrup.

Vodka (optional): Add in about a fourth of a cup of vodka to the lemonade, or serve the vodka on the side for guests to add in themselves.

How to Make Matcha Mint Lemonade

Pick out 6 or 7 ripe lemons. You can buy a bag from your local grocery store or if it’s citrus season, ask a neighbor if you can have some of their freshly-picked lemons.

Once you have your perfect lemons picked out, you can juice the lemons. You will be able to get more juice if you roll the lemons against a your countertop with firm pressure. This will “loosen” all the juice and make it easier to juice.

Serve with lemonade over ice and add lemon slices and mint leaves as a garnish.

Boozy Matcha Mint Lemonade

If you are serving this matcha mint lemonade to other adults, you might want to consider adding in some vodka to give this drink an adult spin.

If you would like to transform this lemonade into a cocktail, add in one ounce of vodka to each lemonade glass. Or you can serve the vodka to guests individually and they can pour in their own alcohol.

What is Matcha?

Matcha is a Japanese green tea powder made from finely milling and then powdering dried green tea leaves. The signature vibrant green color, and sweet yet slightly medicinal taste, are traits strongly affiliated with Matcha powder.

Matcha powder is rich in antioxidants, which may help prevent cell damage and lower your risk of certain diseases. It is also suggested that matcha can decrease the imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in the body, while also decreasing and preventing inflammation.
