Keto Breadcrumbs

If you are looking for a keto alternative to breadcrumbs, try this recipe. Use them in place of regular breadcrumbs to make crab cakes, or add to salads for a little extra crunch instead of using croutons.

Keto breadcrumbs are a great way to add crunch to almost any meal.

Keto Breadcrumb Ingredients

The ingredients for this recipe not only make it keto but also gluten-free.

  • Almond Flour: A staple in keto and gluten-free cooking. I purchase my almond flour in bulk from Amazon to save a little $$$.
  • Herbs: I mixed together my own herbs from what I had stocked in my pantry. I used dried thyme, oregano and parsley.
  • Spices: Add in onion and garlic powder for a little bit of that kick.
  • Salt: Adding in a bit of salt (I only used a teaspoon) will bring out all these flavors listed above. Start with a tsp. of salt and add more to taste if you’d like!

How to Make Breadcrumbs

Making these breadcrumbs is so incredibly simple, you will wish you had learned to do it yourself years ago!

Just measure our your almond flour into a medium-sized frying pan and heat over medium heat. Use a spatula to continuously move the almond flour around until it begins to toast and give off a faint aroma.

Add the almond flour to a pan and allow it to toast.

Add the herbs and salt once the almond flour begins to toast.
Add the herbs and salt once the almond flour begins to toast.

After you see the almond flour begin to change color slightly (should be about 2 or 3 minutes) begin to add in your herbs and salt. Once all your ingredients have been added, continue to mix the breadcrumbs and allow the mixture to toast for another 4 to 5 minutes.

Once the breadcrumbs are perfectly toasted, take them off the heat, and allow to cool slightly before storing. Store the breadcrumbs in an airtight container for up to 6 weeks in the pantry, or use the breadcrumbs right away.

Plain Breadcrumbs vs. Italian Breadcrumbs

Whenever choosing a breadcrumb, I always opt for an Italian flavor. This generally means that more herbs are added as seasoning.

If you do want to make a plain breadcrumb, all you have to do to edit this recipe is omit the herbs listed. Just toast the almond flour and add in the salt.

Looking for a Keto Grocery Store?

I shop for my keto staples on Amazon. I am able to find the best deals by shopping online to stock my pantry.

Instead of impulse buying when I’m food shopping for the week, I try to plan out what my keto pantry staples and needs are by purchasing them on Amazon. This saves me so much time and money since I’m planning out what I need before I actually need it.
